THE EDGE OF LIGHT

The Edge of Light is a novel about Alfred
the Great, his family, and the times he lived in. It is a sweeping
saga of the desperate struggle waged by the English against
the pagan Danish invasions of the ninth century, which brought
the Saxon kingloms of England to the very verge of dissolution.
It is a novel about one of England’s greatest heroes,
the only king in over eleven centuries of monarchy ever to be
called “the great.” And the strength of the novel
lies in the character of Alfred: heroic yet profoundly human,
a man who ultimately triumphs mainly because he absolutely refuses
to give up.
